Mountain Contemporary - 898
Client’s vision is a reimagining of traditional mountain architecture. Design offers fresh aesthetics: cantilevered roof lines, and exposed structure. Design choices to improve energy efficiency and long-term protection against harsh environment. Irregular stacked stone reflecting large boulders, wood-like cement panels the mountains, and gently rising and overlapping roof segments the wide-open spaces. Sloping wood ceilings extend from the outside and window walls of glass help blur the distinction between indoors and out.
Stacked stone wall extends from outside to inside, bringing in colors and textures of the mountains. Great room views through window walls showcase the rugged mountain setting. Central is the iron peak random stacked stone wall traversing from outside to inside, set as a complement to white oak flooring and ceiling. Inverse peaked, wood plank ceiling extends outside, over floor-to-ceiling window wall.
Dining and conversation area continue with stacked stone wall and raw metal look in oversized chandeliers and fireplace surround. Floating rectangular soffits over the Breakfast Area create an intimate yet informal space. Raw metal exhaust hood stands in contrast to highly textured cabinets. Powder Room blends the textures of hand carved marble walls, hand scraped walnut vanity and natural stone sink, all highlighted by a blown-glass chandelier.
Master Bedroom showcases stone masonry elegance, combined with a linear fireplace, and provides a relaxing setting to end the day. Enjoy the view from the master bathroom spa-like free-standing tub. Dual back-to-back vanities and porcelain tile with a weathered copper finish.
Whether inside or out, living spaces are close to nature.
