Mountain Contemporary - 929

Challenge presented by our clients: Capture a 360-degree view of the Colorado National Monument with a warm contemporary feeling.

Upon entering the custom-designed Front Door, the stacked stone wall that extends from outside to inside helps blur the distinction between outside and inside, aided by floor to ceiling window walls. Great Room provides subtle demarcations for Living Area, Kitchen, Formal Dining, Bar and Play Areas. Appropriate space for 200 guests, or more intimate areas for smaller gatherings.

“View Architecture” radiates from the Kitchen Island, through the window walls and over the extensive Patio. Satisfy the needs of a gourmet cook, preserve views of the mountains, and provide for large informal gatherings, in a warm contemporary environment. Under-the-counter storage allows for window walls, maintaining openness. Play Area features two architect-designed items: a floating Pool Table houses a steel cantilever frame anchored to the reclaimed white oak floor and a Shuffleboard cantilevered off the wall.

Master Suite’s simple elegance with an outstanding view. Wood plank ceiling creates a quiet space for the day’s transition. Colors, textures and materials in the Master Bath enhance the view of the grand landscape. With contrasting materials, the contemporary Powder Room features textured metal vanity legs, marble sink vessel, tile accent wall and floating ceiling.

Rear Patio roof sections supported by steel beams, provide a tent-like appearance and unobstructed views. The Personal Amphitheater blends acoustics and mountains for an evening of pure enjoyment. It’s curved back wall and soffits create a dynamic sound experience. Sliding glass doors pocket completely to open the space to the outside.
