Mountain Laurel Way
Located on a pastoral hillside along the edge of “the Lost Pines” of Central Texas, the clients desired a 21st century home reminiscent of Texas’ agrarian roots. Steep gabled roofs, Texas stone, and painted wood trim lend to a connection with the past. Shade structures and energy efficient materials lend to today’s concerns for comfort and responsible use. Of particular enjoyment to the clients is the wood-slatted porch, which shades the harsh Texas sun while allowing the predominant breezes to pass up the hillside. This structure, lit from within, allows for a lantern effect at night when viewed from the road and properties behind it. The home stands dignified on the site, proud of the Texas heritage.
