For a typical mid-century row-house on the south side of San Francisco's Mt. Davidson, DOES Architecture looked to the architecture of Richard Neutra for inspiration for this steel-framed, two-level deck. The slender steel tripod support allows an expansive, open view from the lower level, while the "Star-Fire" low-iron glass railing on the upper deck allows unimpeded views over the Pacific Ocean from the deck and the interior. Port Orford cedar clads the deck and the ceiling soffit, giving a clean, finished look from above and below. A custom redwood privacy wall shields the lower deck from prying eyes. A powder-coated custom steel railing completes the design.
