Murray Hill Residence

The Murray Hill Residence, which is historically in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, presents a divinely articulate blend of modern aesthetics, global influences, and timeless elegance. This 1,200-square-foot prewar apartment has been extensively renovated to fit the constants of modern life.

In designing a new apartment, such that it retains elements of its former architectural glory, but modern functionality and warmth make the overall feel very different, Marie Burgos Design conducted the re-imagination from top to bottom with respect to the existing layout and interior experience of the space.

The transformation began with some minor structural work that opened up a formerly segmented space. The entry foyer, now opened with a raised ceiling onto the living and kitchen areas, flooded with light and felt wonderfully expansive, quite a change from its former dark and enclosed self. These architectural moves instilled a watchword feeling into the design narrative: a worshipping of light, movement, and harmony.
