Newton Dining Room Remodel

My client had been living in a center entrance colonial and had previously added a family room addition. At the time they had combined two rooms which left them with a very long, narrow and awkward dining room. The challenge was to utilize the space, create storage and house a table that could expand to seat 10-14 people.
we decided to use the far end of the room, which also had a glass door leading to a step down family room. We designed the built ins around the door, and built a soffit above the door. The soffit was instrumental in making the new built ins look like they were always there. we also added a hefty crown molding along the ceiling, and then highlighted the ceiling by painting it a chocolate brown.
We decided to use walnut for our table, and had a custom parsons dining table with two extensions built for us. Next up, chairs, carpet , lighting and paint. Finally, the client wanted to have additional seating without having to store extra chairs.. We designed a bench that would sit under the window, but would also seat 3-4 people when pulled up to the table.
