Our clients, who are both artistically inclined (she is an actor and he is a musician), loved their older Richardson neighborhood and decided to modernize the house and looked to us to complete the vision. The architect eliminated the stone and brick look and went to a sleek, stucco, metal and wood solution. The front yard fronted a cul-de-sac and afforded us a great opportunity to create a strong entry sequence into the fore court and house. We created a segmented walk that centered on the new sculptural door and allows for a slower entry pace in which the rich color and texture diversity in plantings can be observed. Plantings were also used to create a stronger visual separation between the street and the residence.
