North Shore Residence
This project was for a family of five, consisting of husband, wife, two boys and a girl, a cat and a dog. The family had just moved back from Singapore and had amassed quite a few Asian artifacts and antiquities. The home in an exclusive Northshore community of Chicago, originally built for a Norwegian Lumber Tycoon. The home was originally designed by George Maher in the early 20th century and has only had two subsequent owners. The current owners decided to maintain the original Tudor character of the home but a complete gut and remodel for the interiors for this active family. The challenge here was bringing the Asian art and antiquities into a decidedly traditional home without feeling like a museum, all the while with regard to this modern family. The results, I’m sure you will agree are a warm, inviting, and believe it or not, kid-proof interiors.
