The new kitchen has over double the storage capacity of the original kitchen. With the tall ceilings brought back by removing a dropped soffit, the perceived space is infinitly larger even though the square footage hasn't changed dramatically.

A window was added during the construction of the addition. The homeowner wanted as much natural light as possible without giving up cabinet space.

From the sitting area into the original dining room and living room. This is where the original house meets what used to be a porch and then an addition, now a new addition that connects the new space to the original.

A new, small deck was constructed with the addition. It replaced a larger, aged deck that had been damaged by carpenter bees and the elements for several years.

A large part of designing an addition is taking care to not let the new space stand out. The original home needs to stay the focal point. The new space, while seemingly small from the exterior, makes a tremendous difference on the inside.
