Full Home Remodel and Addition for Retired UT Professors in Austin, Texas
We recently completed a full home remodel for a retired couple, both former professors at the University of Texas, who have lived in their home for many years. Located in the heart of Austin, the couple wanted to refresh their beloved home to enjoy in their golden years while also keeping future buyers in mind. Our team partnered with Jameson Design Group to blend thoughtful design with expert craftsmanship, creating a space that is both modern and timeless.
The primary focus of this remodel was the kitchen and the primary bathroom, both of which were taken down to the studs and completely reimagined. In the kitchen, we installed custom cabinetry, beautiful new countertops, and a stylish backsplash that modernized the space while making it far more functional for everyday use. The primary bathroom was transformed with new shower tile, a sleek, updated layout, and high-quality finishes that made it a standout feature in the home.
While these two rooms were the largest parts of the remodel, we touched nearly every part of the home, carefully updating and modernizing while preserving the original charm that the couple loved. One of the key elements we retained was the beautiful oak flooring, which we salvaged and restored to its original glory. Additionally, we restored the walls and trim throughout the house, respecting the home’s character while giving it a fresh, updated feel.
This project wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about creating a home that would serve the couple well in their retirement and also appeal to potential future buyers. The balance between keeping some of the home’s original charm and incorporating modern, functional design made this project truly unique.
