Sunset Valley | Kitchen Transformation

For this young professional couple, buying their first home was an exciting milestone—but they quickly realized their kitchen and living space didn’t reflect the open, modern lifestyle they envisioned. They reached out to Catalyst Construction with a clear goal: create a kitchen that felt fresh, functional, and connected to the rest of the home.

One of the biggest challenges was structural. A wall with a built-in double oven, plus a supporting post, divided the kitchen from the living space. To achieve the open-concept layout the clients wanted, we collaborated with an engineer to safely remove the wall and install a structural beam across the room. The transformation instantly gave the kitchen a bright, airy feel and allowed the heart of the home to flow seamlessly into the living area.

Design choices were guided by the clients, with UB Kitchens helping to fine-tune the details. Crisp white cabinetry paired with sleek black hardware creates a clean backdrop, while the rich blue-green tile backsplash brings a pop of personality and warmth. Waterfall marble-look countertops add a touch of luxury, and open shelving provides space for both storage and display.

A favorite feature of this remodel is also one of the most personal: the couple had a brass plate they wanted to incorporate into the design. With a little creativity, we transformed it into a custom wall sconce, wired with a dimmer so it can serve as both a functional light and a unique piece of art. It’s a small detail that carries big meaning—and it’s these kinds of touches that make a remodel feel truly personal.

Now, this couple enjoys a kitchen that reflects their style and supports the way they live—open, modern, and welcoming. At Catalyst Construction, we believe projects like this are about more than just finishes and fixtures. They’re about listening to homeowners, respecting their vision, and creating a space that feels like home from the very first day.
