This private, waterfront residence on Lake Michigan presented challenging and unstable site conditions. BLD worked with revetment engineers and constructors to design a solution to stabilize the slope and create access ramps that incorporate amenity terraces. The design team utilized a MSE retaining wall system to secure the steepest part of the slope against the stairs. The approach to grading and drainage was to integrate it with a planting scheme composed of native and adaptive shrub species that fit the site's conditions.
