This client wanted a more functional kitchen with adequate storage and countertop space. She also wanted it updated so that when it was time for her to sell, she would "wow" the greatest number of potential buyers walking through the front door. The walls connecting the kitchen, dining and living rooms made each space feel small and cramped. The dining room was rarely used and it wasn't conducive for entertaining. If a potential buyer has small children, it would be difficult for a mother to keep her eye on them when she's in the kitchen making dinner. By removing those connecting walls (and replacing those load bearing walls with a hidden beam for support) we were able to create a spacious open concept first floor for the client to entertain and enjoy for years.
