Empty nesters needed a refined floor plan and repurposed living space. A fifth bedroom at the back of the house was converted to a sunny family room, then connected to an adjacent sitting nook and open kitchen. A bathroom and laundry room formerly located in the center of the house were relocated to the second floor off the master bedroom and a convoluted arrangement of stairs between the kitchen and living room were removed to create greater simplicity and flow.
