Park Row Loft
The renovated loft is located within a Manhattan paper factory building constructed in 1886. With the client’s background in astrophysics, we referenced planetary orbits to create an elliptical layout using the 2 large Corinthian columns as our foci. Between these columns an open kitchen centers the space, highlighted above by a multi-colored LED elliptical cove. The 14 foot high ceilings allowed us to insert a mezzanine along the perimeter, increasing the square footage from 1,750 to 2,160. The original one bedroom apartment was redesigned to provide the family of four with three bedrooms along the exterior window wall. We provided a library for an extensive book collection on the north wall that continues up to the mezzanine. The mezzanine also includes an office, guest nook, and 2 sleeping lofts for the children.
