Philadelphia Story

OLD-WORLD CHARM

This structure was once part of Ardrossan, the grand Montgomery Scott estate which inspired The Philadelphia Story. Unlike that mainstay of high society, this dwelling was purpose-built as staff accommodation, and as such is rustic in character. Working with the existing grade and canopy trees, we positioned an informal terrace at the rear of the residence. Stonework was rough and heavily dashed to convey an idyllic, quaint atmosphere. The rough-sawn pergola further defines the space, and its chunky detailing contributes to the aged vibe. A millstone fountain is positioned in the corner of the space. Plantings are simple, with ample space allocated for containers of colorful seasonal flowers.
