Designed as a backdoor retreat for 3 small children, the Pinwheel Playhouse allows for young creative minds to imagine the building as they see fit, be it a fort, a castle, or a cottage. The small size makes use of dimensional framing materials, the balloon framed walls provide the structure for the upper level deck while also doubling as a handrail. At the perpendicular intersections of the pinwheeled walls access points are granted and attachments such as a ladder and a slide are added. Off-the-shelf 6' cedar fencing boards create enclosure and are gapped to allow for air and light to access the interior.
