The original kitchen had a brick enclosure surrounding the old cooktop area. The entire kitchen was gutted, and the ceiling area was reframed while adding new recessed lighting. All new electrical and a dedicated circuit for the microwave in the island was added. A new exhaust hood concealed in the cabinetry provided a very nice extra touch. A beautiful farm sink centered on the new window was a great touch along with the recessed niche above the cooktop which was added during construction.
