This house is sited in the heart of a mixed old growth rainforest on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The house is a family gathering place for an extended family of three generations. The plan of the house wraps around several giant red cedars on the north side of the house. A simple shed roof rises up to the towering cedar giants that are in some cases 8 feet in diameter. The house is a natural extension of the forest it sits in, both in form and in the material use of cedar and fir.
