Raised Back Patio

These clients wanted a four-season outdoor space to cook and and enjoy time with family. A two-tiered design creates a lower area focused on cooking and an upper area for seating. The natural gas firepit offers convenience to encourage more frequent use. The wood-fired pizza oven is the main draw for cooking, but a dual natural gas connection built into the side of the counter allows the homeowners to utilize their variety of grills and smokers with flexibility. Low voltage lighting extends the season of use for early fall and winter sunsets. Techo-Bloc Blu 60 pavers and Raffinato wall block were perfect for the clients' contemporary style, but the irregular basalt firepit provided a nice contrast to the clean lines around it. A permeable paver surface accommodates the heavy drip edges from the roof line and allows water to infiltrate the subsurface instead of generating runoff down the slope of the backyard.
