Remove the Tablecloth, Please!

What's hiding under the tablecloth? This client had a gorgeous mahogany dining table with an inlay border and double pedestals hiding under her tablecloth. She also had the matching chippendale-style chairs, a traditional oriental-style area rug, and heavily adorned chandelier. She asked for a more modern and contemporary home, but had a sentimental attachment to her furniture.

Revitalize Design created a master plan for her whole main level, from the entry to the kitchen. These pictures focus on the dining room only, but the rest of her rooms can be found at www.revitalizedesign.com.

Sometimes painting a room isn't enough to transform a space. After selecting a wall paint color, we created the design plan for the dining room spotlighting the antique table, without making it feel antiquated, and replacing the flat pierced splat-back chairs with soft diamond-quilted upholstered dining chairs. The contoured arms and silver nail head accents add a touch of classic elegance and balance needed for texture in a dining room.

To further elevate the space, we replaced the crystal chandelier with a transitional gilded satin brass pendant highly structured and infinitely inviting. To highlight the crisp architectural lines of the open lantern, we rotated the table 45 degrees to showcase both the table and the lighting.

The final layer to create this spectacular view includes the hand made area rug, abstract art, and carefully curated decorative items.
