The owner of this residence desired to take advantage of the beautiful outdoor view of the Columbia River, even in inclement weather. This necessitated the design of a covered trellis area with a structural glass “windbreak”. The trellis serves to provide shelter for outdoor activities and serves as the centerpiece of a vibrant outdoor activity setting. This outdoor area includes a vanishing edge swimming pool connecting the observer – “water to water” with the swimming pool to the Columbia River below. Additional outdoor activity areas include cement steps, down to an in-ground Jacuzzi, and the octagonal shaped dining platform – which perches over the embankment to provide a spectacular view up and down the river.
