Riverside Boulevard Combination
When a previous client decided to move from their large duplex apartment in Tribeca, they found few options on the market affording the same amount of space. Instead they decided to purchase two adjacent high-floor apartments on Riverside Boulevard and combine them. The new apartment not only provided adequate space, but afforded great light and spectacular views of the Hudson River. The catch was that the project had to be constructed within a 10 week window in time for the holidays.
In order to meet the deadline, KATZ worked closely with the general contractor and the interior designer during the design process to streamline construction. The design focused on minimally reconfiguring the apartments to make the combined units feel like one. The layout was organized around a single circulation spine with a formal living room facing the river at one end and a less formal family room facing the city at the other. The kitchen and master bathroom were gut renovated, and a powder room and laundry room were added. All remaining bathrooms were refinished. To meet the tight deadline, all plumbing fixtures, hardware and lighting was ordered in advance.
