Roxboro Residence – Heritage Reconstruction & Modernization

This project involved the reconstruction and modernization of a heritage Craftsman residence in Roxboro following significant flood damage. Originally renovated in the early 2000s, the home required a comprehensive rebuild that balanced restoration with selective modernization.

Working within the constraints of the existing structure, the focus was on re-establishing continuity across architectural elements while upgrading performance and durability. Particular attention was given to maintaining proportion, material consistency, and detailing appropriate to the original character of the home.

Interior work emphasized precision in execution, with custom millwork, aligned assemblies, and carefully integrated transitions throughout. Elements such as the primary stair and built-in features were approached as compositional anchors, reinforcing both structure and spatial flow.

The result is a resolved integration of heritage character and contemporary construction standards, reflecting a disciplined approach to working within existing conditions.

After the 2013 Calgary flood, a house originally renovated in 2006 by Sandrin Construction Ltd., was once again called upon to aid in renovating a house left in horrible condition after the floods. Fortunately, we were able to restore the house to its pre-flood look, with minor modern changes.

With intricate woodworking detail and intricate design, we really had to 'up our game' in order to measure up to what had been created generations before.
