Saxon Drive
Client invited us to completely rehab this Eagle Rock fixer from soup to nuts. Property was original 1960s ranch complete with claustrophobic galley kitchen, outdated popcorn ceilings, ratty wall-to-wall carpeting and massive eight foot aluminum slider windows.
Structurally, we removed part of the bearing wall to create a Greatroom that would allow for a much expanded kitchen, smaller dining room and open living room. The entire house is only 1334 square feet, but the result is a flowing, airy space that benefits from sunlight streaming in through windows on three walls. The use of chocolate Maple cabinetry and Raven Ceaserstone counters against a backdrop of tumbled Earth Slate backsplash featuring hand-pieced glass mosaics gives the home a soothing, decidedly Craftsman feel. The warm solid maple flooring throughout in a honey finish provides that unifying element which marries the spaces as one.
The kitchen was created to be the centerpiece of the home, with stainless steel appliances featuring a Capital range and a baking island complete with hidden mixer lift and a second oven. Plenty of counter space and a custom built-in breakfront provide ample display/storage space for the clients’ large tableware collection
