This beautiful century-old English-styled country house is well situated on a top of a hill partially wooded with a mature blend of evergreen and deciduous trees. Selecting the appropriate materials was made easy by the rich colors and textures of the existing house, crushed gravel driveway, and lushly planted garden beds.

The existing concrete front walk was replaced by a running bond clay paver walk to match the prominent chimney masonry. Next spring an espaliered Doublefile Viburnum will be planted at the ground level base of the chimney. Boulders, stone slab steps, and irregular bluestone steppers were installed off the existing stoop and sloped sidewalks for easier access. The existing crushed granite driveway was vertically-lined with century-old recycled street pavers for both visual interest and to keep gravel chips out of the adjoining plant beds. All front and driveway side downspouts were tied into underground solid draintile and released in the front lawn panel with pop-up drain valves.
