Seashore forest.

The client requested a low maintenance landscape. The site had not been completed and the oversized retaining boulders dominated the landscape. The plan included eliminating the huge boulders where possible and providing fresh composted loam for regrading. We created a natural, stable hillside planted in native plants with 4-season interest. This landscape changes color and texture with the season and attracts insect pollinators and birds. The existing white shell drive was covered in a natural river stone and the entrance planted with Viburnum, Bearberry, NE Aster, Little Bluestem grass, Amalanchier and Winterberry shrubs. Large natural stone slabs traverse the hillside and paved path leading from the front door to the garage. Solar light illuminates the steps through the plantings to the front entrance. We feel we succeeded in highlighting the look of the natural ground cover of Truro's hummocks, the inspiration for this project.
