This floating home was completely transformed into a one-of-a-kind Northwest Contemporary waterfront retreat. Inspired by neighboring Gas Works Park, many industrial elements were brought into the design. Despite the challenge of having limited space and low ceilings, the designer was able to make this floating home come to life. Vintage fixtures added a depth of character to the space. Every detail from the custom island to the industrial warehouse wire-plated New York glass, was strategically selected. Loewen Custom Switchable Smart Glass allows for the transparency to be adjusted on the expansive wall of windows at the front façade. The designer chose to keep the original ceiling panels exposed rather than covering them up to keep the original character and bring more warmth into the space. The rooftop deck was transformed from a cold, uninviting space to a lush gathering area for people to enjoy sunny Pacific Northwest days. // Photographer: Kayla Esparza Photography
