Seattle Historic Master Bath

We remodeled the kitchen in this stately Historic Greek Revival home 15 years ago and it still looks beautiful and timeless. The owners felt it was time to treat themselves to a lovely master bath suite. The old bath had been remodeled in "modern" style in the '60's, complete with coin tiles -- back in style now, but not right for this home. Details were of utmost importance, as the room needed to have up to date luxury and convenience, but look as if it belonged in the period home, full of antiques and traditional style.

The double vanity has many furniture details and a center cabinet provides subtle separation of space. The narrow pullouts on each end offer handy storage for items used daily. The beautiful Kallista fixtures stand out agains the dramatic Emperador Dark Marble.

The client requested a sit down dressing table with good light. Both natural morning light and complimentary side lighting provided by the attractive sconces fit the bill. The bordered tile inserts in the floor provide the look of custom rugs.

The previous shower had a dropped ceiling and was very tight. Because the owners wanted to maintain a bathtub, we worked to make every inch count. Half walls allow natural light to make the space feel more open.

The new shower uses glass and natural light to make it feel more open. A shallow curb keeps water in, but allows more ease of access. A bench and combination shelf & grab bar provide better stabilization when using the shower. LED lighting keeps the shower bright, even at night or on dark days.
