She Shed

When we first bought our 4 acres in the country, I noticed there was an indention in the tree line on the rear of the property, over-looking the neighbors cow pasture, and I thought that would be a prefect place to locate a little 'She Shed' one day. The views from that spot reminded me of the farm I grew up on. My husband had to build a fence around portion of our property to keep our dogs contained, so he located a gate in the back of the fence that would lead to the future Shed. The more we talked about it, the more excited we got about it and planned to go ahead and design it, so we could build it soon. Then, we were out shopping one morning and found the the perfect building for sale on a bulletin board. It was already built and was very similar in style to what we had in mind to design.

Since we determined we could not build one that size for any less than what we could purchase this one for, we bought it and and had it swiftly moved to our property, where we immediately began the transformation of it. It was an empty shell of bare plywood on the floor, walls, and ceiling. My husband painted everything white to give it a brighter look and we then retained the services of an excellent muralist to paint the lovely mural on the back wall, while my husband went to work embellishing the exterior with the Deck, porch swing stand, shade sails and arbor leading to the She from the hiking trail he built to it through the woods from the house. It has become a favorite gathering spot and retreat for us and our friends. We’ve had numerous parties here, turning the Deck into a stage for visiting bands from time to time, as well.
