Silo House
'Silo House' is an equestrian's dream home. It was designed to evoke the old barn and silo that once stood on this site and to nurture a friendship with horses. A four-stall barn is attached to the main house much like in early America. The house and stall floors step down with the natural grade of the land with the stalls lower than the house so as not to overwhelm the human shelter.
Natural cedar shingles were used for the majority of the walls with tongue and groove vertical boards at the silo and barn. Wood beams for the living room ceiling, mantel surround and front entry were salvaged from the old barn that once stood on the site. The silo features a cozy office on the first and second levels with breathtaking views.
