Tree House

This home in rural Virginia, appropriately named "Tree House", is nestled in a heavily wooded site and was designed to preserve the natural topography and as many trees as possible. The first floor follows the natural slope of the land and each exit opens to a stone terrace at grade level. Exterior materials were kept simple with board and batten wood siding stained the color of tree bark, a copper standing-seam roof and a chimney with stone harvested from the site.

Interior sloping ceilings allow tall windows and skylights to bring in an abundance of natural light even on overcast days.
