This kitchen renovation was part of a larger project to update this 100-year-old home, which included the addition of a family room. The kitchen was expanded by removing a small bathroom where the peninsula is now located. The homeowners wanted to remain true to the farmhouse history of the home, and bring the beauty of the property's natural rocky terrain indoors. To achieve these design goals, a pallet of warm, earthy colors was used in the kitchen, along with reclaimed wood for flooring. The inset cabinets are by Kountry Kraft, finished in Brushed Suede. The granite countertops and tile backsplash in dark gray tones are reminiscent of the stones and boulders scattered throughout the property. The appliances are Bosch and Thermador. Leaded glass doors on upper cabinets bring a touch of elegance to the space. The cabinets above the island have double-sided access for easy use from the adjacent dining room.
