Simple Symmetry

First things first, removing the structural wall separating the kitchen and dining room. With the engineer approval, the new beam and venting relocation could take place. The kitchen over double in size, extending the existing kitchen with peninsula to the patio door where the breakfast nook used to be. Adding a large center island with enough space for 4 stools with bar sink provides a much needed space and adds a double function.
Large custom cabinet’s full height to the 9’ ceilings maximize the available storage space. Relocated sink and gas range with under-cabinet fan with matching oversize upper opening provided visual symmetry to the overall design. Glass inserts in some taller upper doors provides an airy feel to the cabinetry while accentuating the symmetry of the kitchen.
The clients initially wanted an all-white kitchen, after meeting with them, a greige off-white color was chosen with a splash of rustic reclaimed inspired center island. Simple subway backsplash tiles offer a clean background of the stunning countertop. Large 20”x20” floor tiles accentuate the large open plan of the new kitchen. Storage was maximized with built-in magic-corner, spice rack, cutlery divider, pull-out garbage can, spatula divider, vertical dividers, designated area for k-cups, tip-out tray and lots of large drawers.
