Small Living Room

A sophisticated Glam look gives this small living room the feel of a New York apartment. The snow white sofa and regal gray wing back chairs, combines with the metal and antique-glass cocktail table, open end tables, and elegant glacier drapery panels complete the look.

My client is a working Mom with two small daughters and wanted a space to call her own, off-limits to her daughters, and a living room to entertain adults. The living room was small in functional space, and narrow coming off the front door with a dining room adjacent. The actual size was 13 x 11.

Combining whites, crystal and gray with just a touch of color brought the glamour of old Hollywood to life for my client. Using a neutral palette created a lighter feel and allowed us to place more pieces in a very small space.

In the heart of the room we placed a spacious sofa in a refined snow white fabric. It is tailored for looks but maximizes the seating to allow three people to sit comfortably. The sofa is flanked by two large wing back chairs covered in an aristocratic gray solid to provide more seating. For larger gatherings, the adjacent dining room chairs were chosen at the same time and can be pulled into the living room when needed.

The rectangular table provides needed surface but with the mirrored top keeps the space open. Round, open end tables and curvy glass lamps soften the space and anchor the upholstery grouping. A tailored cut and loop area rug provides warmth. The simple drapery panels soften the windows and bold pillows and accessories complete the look.

My client’s little girls love to feel “grown up” when Mom lets them hangout in her adult living room.
