Sonoma Asian Modern
When an investment banker, his wife and two kids moved back to Sonoma after spending several years in London and Philadelphia they knew that is where they wanted to retire. The home they held on to all these years is located in a prime location of Sonoma, but the French Chateau style was a bit more traditional than their personal taste.
First Claudia and her team transformed the spacious but stark white rooms by warming up the walls with a citrus and autumn color scheme that brought out the over-scaled trim, by changing the cream stair carpet to a warm golden tan flat-woven texture and by having bamboo floors installed in the hallways and bedrooms. Then contemporary and vintage accessories, organically inspired lighting, large works by local photographers were chosen and Asian Modern furniture and rugs were custom-designed by ADG to compliment the clients’ existing Danish Modern pieces. Among the custom pieces are a practical and unique shoe armoire in the entry, a free-standing wine rack in the dining room, which was inspired by riddle racks and stores the empty bottles that once held the clients’ most prized wines, as well as a multi-functional office cabinet in the guest room, which doubles as a work station and TV cabinet.
Now the interior seamlessly blends the classic architectural details with the clients’ modern aesthetic.
