Split Level Solutions

In this renovation of a 1960s split-level home, Byggmeister addressed several key challenges to enhance functionality and comfort. The cramped garage entry was reconfigured by interior designer Annie Chow to create a more spacious and functional mudroom. She relocated walls and doors, widened openings, and repurposed space for a built-in bench, storage, and a new powder room, transforming a previously problematic area into a versatile, light-filled space.

The kitchen was also revamped, with an optimized layout that included double ovens, a dedicated coffee area, and improved access. A narrow peninsula was replaced with a full-cabinet depth peninsula that added seating and storage. Additionally, we tackled heating system issues by enhancing insulation, addressing air leakage, and upgrading ductwork to improve efficiency. Throughout the renovation, we focused on optimizing the flow and coherence of the space, ensuring that each area seamlessly connected with the others. The result is a cohesive and modernized home that better suits the homeowner’s needs and lifestyle.
