St. Paul
Founder and CEO, architect Don Ruggles of Ruggles Mabe Studio created this home in two halves. Separated by the home’s spine, the south – sunny – side is where the living happens – dining and living rooms, kitchen and
family areas. On the north side is the stairwell, baths, pantry and bedrooms. The two sides are clearly defined by the staircase, which is cantilevered from the wall and allows sunlight to filter down from the third-floor skylight
through to the two lower levels. Modern architecture meets organic living in this urban retreat.
The combination of clean lines and warm textures create a sinuous relationship between indoor/outdoor living. The modern aesthetic feels timeless and warm through connected spaces and neutral palettes. This family had a love of travel and we worked closely to bring their travel experiences to life here.
