Succulents and Roses

This project began with a blank slate. The landscape renovation was completed by another designer and for 2 years and the homeowners very patiently waited for a Plant Design.
I was called in to select plants for the project.
We agreed upon a Plant Palette of a mixture of Succulents and Waterwise Mediterannean plants.
I created a buffer zone of Succulents and the larger areas were planted with shrubs and ground covers that would ultimately fill in and cover the garden beds with color throughout the year.

The large Ficus tree is the site of a swing for the couples grandchildren to hang out. We selected Native Bentgrass which can tolerate some shade and foot traffic. We planted succulents around the border of the grass to help remind the young ones where it was safe to play so as not to fall off the ledge.

The homeowners did not want gravel mulch around the succulents as they don’t like the ‘Southwest “ look, but as that wis what succulents prefer, I selected small ‘Barkrock” which looks like bark but is actually a rock mulch. They were very pleased.

The homeowners have a productive vegetable garden and many fruit trees on the property which they enjoy tending. We enclosed it with a picket fence so that little Lily would not escape while they were tending the garden.
