The 5’ x 10’ kitchen island contains a deep prep sink, and multiple pull out drawers for cutlery, pots, recycling, and small appliance storage. The island also has an under-counter microwave, a dog feeding station, and seating for 3. A narrow, higher, floating countertop overlaps the end of the main countertop and blocks the view of the prep area from the eat-in dining area. Built-in vac pans and concealed electrical outlets complete this working island.
The stove wall is the feature wall and contains a large, professional 6-burner gas cook top, contrasting with a maple wood valance concealing the requisite hood fan. Contrasting walnut trim was added to the hood valance to match the remainder of the kitchen. Pot drawers in a variety of sizes are found below the cook top to house all cookware.
The eye catching red backsplash behind the cook top is made up of easy to clean smooth faced porcelain tile. Flanking the cook top are cabinets brought down to the counter surface to house an assortment of dishes and bowls.
The kitchen is painted a soft blue, complimentary to the rich colours of the cabinetry.
Discreet halogen pot lights give all over lighting while the curved, organic pendant lights hung over the island give a soft glow. The pendant shades have leaves embedded in rice paper motif.
