The idea for this project was too create a space that could be warm and sun filled in the winter yet still be cool, shady and easily be opened up to the warm breezes of summer. Eight foot tall sliding glass doors where used as they allowed in maximum sunlight and were easily opened to allow maximum ventilation. Remotely operated skylights allow the rising warm air to be ventilated outside. The southern roof overhang was planned to block the hot summer sun yet allow the winter sun to warm the space. A radiant heated tile floor and a gas fireplace provide additional heat. Also part of the project was a walk out basement playroom below the sun room with a separate back door entry.
