The Bridge House

A private residence designed to overcome the perceived impediment encumbering its dramatic, sloping site, namely a precipitous ravine that splits the available buildable area in half by boldly bridging that ravine with the residence itself. Overcoming the client’s initial reluctance, the compelling residence design leaps what was formally thought to be an overwhelming “natural” detriment while capturing and embracing that natural drama and “order” of the site’s true character, simultaneously infusing the residence itself with a closer relationship to nature, awe, and wonder.
