The Lighthouse is the culmination of a five-year journey, transforming a blank beachfront plot into a villa built entirely to brief. From the earliest stages, Carrie Das worked in parallel with the appointed architect, ensuring that each decision supported not only the aesthetics but also the everyday lifestyle of the family. Slab heights were designed to create uninterrupted ceiling lines. Sightlines were carefully aligned with natural light and surrounding views of the landscape and sea. At the core of the home is a sculptural staircase that rises across three levels. It serves as both a visual anchor and an architectural guide, quietly organising the movement and flow of the villa. The overall design is guided not by overt extravagance but by clarity, discipline, and refinement. Every material was chosen with care, and every detail executed with precision.
The design narrative blends the clients’ British heritage with elements of Asian restraint and overlays this with the softness and ease of barefoot beachfront living. Almost every item within the villa was either custom designed, specially sourced, or adapted to suit. From the earliest concepts through procurement, construction, and final installation, Carrie Das’ hand remained present at every stage. The result is a villa that is at once highly architectural and deeply personal, a home that reflects both vision and intimacy.
