Vanishing Edge Pool Harker Heights
Design Award Winner. This was the perfect location for a vanishing edge pool as long as the slope challenges were tackled. With that in mind, the first step in this project was to construct a 13 foot tall wall on either side of where the pool would end up. We then imported over 1,000 cubic yards of fill to create a level place to work. All of this work was done prior to the house slab being started, due to limited access. A system of 15 piers to bedrock and beams were placed prior to pool excavation.
All the stone used on this project was selected to be consistent with the home. The pebble interior complements the other material selections and enhances the refreshing blue appearance of the water. Long planters were built to avoid the necessity of deck hand rails that would obstruct the view. A large top step features four fountains. Whether you look out over the vanishing edge at the lake view or look back at the rock spa with its stacked stone spillway, there are spectacular views everywhere you look.
This pool has more than just a beautiful view. It has brains too! The entire pool, spa, and fire pit are fully automated. Additionally, a geo-thermal system redirects water to six holes 300 feet into the ground and returns water to the pool at 65 degrees year round. When activated the pool can easily be cooled in the summer and more importantly is protected from freeze issues in the winter. This water can be returned through either the pool returns or through the in-floor cleaning system.
This project married vision in design with engineering and technology to create a stunning backyard oasis.
