The VenHuizen kitchen is a Midcentury gut remodel that promises to be one of our biggest and most satisfying transformations yet.
The kitchen did not have countertop space (the cabinets were just 14" off the countertops!), and it was dated. The lighting was dim and the cabinets were hard to access because of their locations and the appliances in the kitchen. But most of all, the homeowners' personal style didn't fit the space. Their tastes lean more Nordic-minimalist, so we worked to give the kitchen a spare functionality while amping up the stylish details and using a palette of earthy colors and textures.
