Victorian House & complete renovation!

From the new embossed ceiling to the brazilian walnut floors, and everything in between, this large eat-in kitchen was completely re-done. Formerly two rooms, the built-in dining area, was an exterior porch...so we took down the wall, raised the floor and incorporated it into the new, larger room.

When we removed and moved the original walls to enlarge the space and make the traffic flow easier. We couldn't save the old tin ceilings, so we found a unique replacement which everybody loves!

The original entry way had a lot of charm and details, all of which we kept. All we had to do was give it a new bright coat of paint. Then we added a new chandelier and refinished the original hardwood floors.

When we bought the house it was covered in vinyl, which we completely stripped and covered with new Hardie Plank, a cement/wood composite which passed the local Historic Commission. A new front "peak" and covered porch brought focus to the front door.

The original fireplace was faced with dirty and cracked tiles. We brought in a new gas burner fireplace insert which does not require venting. We found the frame for the mirror in salvage and put it above the original mantle, adding the crown molding wrapped around it. Our local glass merchant...

There was no doorway connecting the original butler's pantry with the family room (added in the 1950's). One had to walk to the left, through the dining room and then back into the family room. Our re-design opened the doorway for direct access from the family room to the kitchen, via the pantry....
