The original veranda on this Queen Anne had been expanded and enclosed years ago. Unsympathetic to the original house, the porch detracted from the house’s character. The owners asked us to rejuvenate the porch at its current size. We returned the front to an open porch, unmasking the beautiful oak door original to the house. Elsewhere we redesigned the walls to emphasize its porch origins: a rhythm of porch columns, divided-lite windows spanning between, and a decorative wooden skirt that anchors the porch to the ground.
