Clients initially came to us looking to rebuild their existing single family home but the limitations of local building codes prevented us from building new. We therefore set out to navigate the permitting process in such a way that allowed us to reuse a portion of the existing home while simultaneously maximizing building area to meet client’s goals. The intention was for a contemporary take on timeless design, keeping materials and layouts simplified for a modest yet functional living space. Vaulted ceilings on the upper level allow for natural light to flood the landing and open stair, encouraging it to spill into the open concept living areas on the main level.
