My client has what most of us dream for in a kitchen…space. She lived in the home for 7 years and was frustrated because she ‘just didn’t know what to do with it.’ Her space was barren and beige. She has traditional taste, but loved the modern tones of whites and grays. She entertains a lot and wanted an elegant, multifunctional space, but most importantly comfortable, and something that would stand the test of children and a puppy. I kept the space warm and traditional by utilizing wood for cabinetry and flooring, and brightened it with white/marble quartz counters in the perimeter, and Fantasy Brown granite on the island to hide crumbs from the days’ quick meals before soccer. The backsplash is 4X12” marble to transition the two counters. To accommodate a more comfortable feel, I created a seating area (instead of the traditional table) in the breakfast nook and incorporated a durable, distressed farm house table with bench in front of the fireplace.
