Wellesley Kitchen and Supper Room

SILVER WINNER 2016 PRISM AWARDS
Best Kitchen Remodel Over $200,000

Designed in 1918 by Boston Architect Benjamin Proctor for Roger W. Babson, founder of Babson College in Wellesley, this house has a strong Georgian Colonial Revival aesthetic. The client asked Design Associates Inc. to create a functional, open feeling 21st century kitchen with casual living and dining space, and a modern mudroom entry. All done while respecting the historical relevance of their home.

The space was rearranged to create a kitchen and a supper room. A new, more functional mudroom was added. All materials and finishes, such as the painted cabinet bodies, and the wood countertops; were adapted from original 1918 designs, to meet today’s needs.

Despite the major spatial change, the house still remains true to its 20th century origins.
